Head Coach - John Barata

Coach Barata completed his first season as the Head Coach for the OA Boys Team back in 2009. The Tigers compiled a 15-3-3 record overall and a 2nd place finish in the Hockomock League. John is now serving as the Director of Coach and Player Development for Easton Soccer and as a Youth Minister for Holy Cross Church in Easton, MA. 

As a player, Coach Barata graduated from Assumption College in Worcester, MA where he was the Captain of the Men's Soccer Team from 1997-1999. He was an All-New England All-Star selection in 1999 and was a three time member of the NE-10 All-Conference Team. John received the highest athletic accolade from the college—The Premier Male Senior Student-Athlete Award—as well as defensive, offensive, and most valuable player of the year awards. John was recently inducted into the Immaculate High School "Hall of Fame" Class of 2009. He comes to Massachusetts from Connecticut, where he served as the Executive Director and Technical Director for Soccer Extreme. He has opened his own company—Soccer Extreme New England—offering camps, coaching clinics, and player development programs. 

John currently holds the USSF "A" License, and the NSCAA Premier Diploma. John is also an instructor for Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association and a coach for the Olympic Development Program. John has a wealth of coaching experience at the youth, club and high school levels. He has trained professionally in both the United States and abroad. John trained briefly with the New England Revolution and Portuguese club, Benfica. He is a superb soccer clinician and has many years experience in playing and coaching the game at top levels. 

Coach Barata resides in Hanson, MA with his wife and two children. (Erin, Timothy, Elizabeth)

Assistant Coach Fred Kurtz

Coach Kurtz completed his first season as the Assistant Coach for the OA Boys Team back in 2009. The Tigers compiled a 15-3-3 record overall and a 2nd place finish in the Hockomock League.

As a soccer player, he has played since the age of 5, Coach Kurtz grew up playing in the BAYS Soccer League,as a member of the Framingham Black Knights. He and his 3 older and 1 younger brothers played soccer at Framingham North High School in the Baystate League. He is an active player in the Men's OTHSL New England (Canton). Coach Kurtz played at a very high level. Coach Kurtz competed in NCAA Division I Collegiate Soccer at the Boston College Eagles from 1979-82.  In addition to assisting John Barata, Head Soccer Coach, OAHS, Coach Kurtz has been an active Youth Soccer Coach. He has coached both Boys and Girls Ages 5-18, for Easton Youth Soccer League, EYSL1993 to present. 

Coach Kurts currently holds his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and the USSF National "C" License. Coach Kurtz is a well known youth development coach and is known as a seasoned professional.

Coach Kurtz resides in North Easton, MA. with his wife Cheryl,and their children, Shane, Bret, and Hayleigh.
